That’s is pretty sweet. I can’t believe that a search on YouTube for dorodango returns zero results. At least this page gives more step-by-step photos.
Not surprising that this tradition comes from the same country with the extreme boredom and creativity necessary to produce origami.

This was my favorite line in the instructions (emphasis mine):
The shining capsule is prepared using a powdery component of soil. It is dust raised by beating the ground. It consists of micro particles less than 1/1000 mm in diameter.
