Sorry for the downer, but this is the saddest thing I’ve read in a long time. Can you imagine having to decide which of your children to save?

That’s unbelievable. Heart-rending. It firmly reinforces what I felt only glimmers of while I lived in the Czech Republic–there is still something of an invisible Iron Curtain hanging over that region, no doubt about it.
