Musical Alphabet: R

I toyed with the idea of not putting a Radiohead video here, but in the end I couldn’t help myself. This is one of my favourite songs from their last album, In Rainbows. I think drummer Phil Selway’s helmet-cam is the best of the bunch. Some “making of ” info about halfway down this page.

I am ready for a Radiohead bender. It’s a good reintroduction to autumn-time.

Anytime is a good time for Radiohead.
I was saddened to read recently that Thom Yorke wants to stop making albums as they’re too much hard work, and just wants to release the occasional single instead.

I’ve been wondering why bands still focus on albums. I would be like if it’s assumed that all writers should be writing novels (even if some parts of the novel are serialized in Harper’s first).

I’ve always preferred albums myself. I don’t see why albums and singles should be mutually exclusive, though. Then again, even if everyone just releases singles, maybe they’ll eventually be compiled into albums, which is actually what albums were in the first place.
