There are regular exhibitions in the building where I work; photography and paintings, certainly, but also products and prototypes relating to specific work programmes or initiatives. Currently they’re showing off some ideas for sustainable transport. These wooden bikes caught my eye.
Maybe not the most comfortable-looking contraptions, but certainly sleek and sexy.
Large chunks of my childhood were spent riding around on my Raleigh Extra Burner. This was around the height of BMX fever, after all, and many an evening and weekend were devoted to practising my wheelies, endos and cross-ups. This was back in the good old days when children used to play outdoors, of course. It wouldn’t happen now.
